The Biographical Dictionary of Japan is one of Japan's largest such dictionaries, including more than 65,000 from the mythical age of Kojiki (Japan's oldest extant chronicle) and Nihon Shoki (oldest official histry of Japan) until the present. In addition to real persons, it includes fictional characters such as heroes in stories and novels, and thus can be an essential source for people-related research.
